Description
In order to study a discrepancy in external dose measured by various types of personnel dosimeters, especially between a film badge and other dosimeters, the energy and directional dependence of 6 kinds of dosimeters was examined both in free air and on the phantom. On the basis of the experimental results, it was found that the backscattered radiation from the body has stronger influences on the dose by a film badge than that by other types of dosimeters and that the discrepancy is mainly caused by the scattered radiation. Therefore, it is suggested that a film badge should be calibrated on the phantom for diminishing the discrepancy.
