Description

To evaluate the emollient effects of the soluble collagen cream, the suppression of the transepidermal water loss (TWL) with the soluble collagen and base cream was measured on the forearm of twenty healthy male volunteers aged 22 to 46. Average percent TWL suppression of the soluble collagen cream and base cream were 18.6% (p<0.01) and 13.6% (p<0.01), respectively. Applying the technique we used in this study, it should be possible to compare the emollient effects of materials, quantitatively. Using these criteria, the soluble collagen cream was shown to have an emollient effect on human skin.
