Description
The case history of a 35-year-old woman with unusual recurrent reactions to jellyfish envenomation is presented. She experienced three different eruptions including the initial and two subsequent episodes. The second recurrent eruptions appeared 1 week after primary exposure at the same site. Later a third series of recurrent eruptions appeared 23 days after the primary exposure at more scattered areas of the body except for the primary region. It is hypothesized that the recurrent reactions were caused by an allergic mechanism which was triggered by the toxic substances of the nematocysts.
