Abstract
In order to obtain the optimal conditions for analysis of phthalic acid esters(PAEs) by GC-ECD, a response of di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate(DEHP) to ECD, on behalf of PAEs, was investigated with respect to column temperature and carrier gas flow rate. GC analysis was performed with Shimadzu GC-6A and ECD detection was conducted at 250 °C in the constant voltage mode. Among parameters in GC analysis, a carrier gas flow rate gave anomalous behaviors in ECD response. For example one noted response was an exponential decrease with an increase of flow rate. Furthermore a negative peak was observed at flow rates greater than 60 ml/min. The possible GC conditions for PAEs' analysis are recommended.
