Description

The constituents of the essential oil of Citrus iyo have been studied.<BR>The essential oil was prepared by pressing the peel between two rollers, and the constituents were isolated by means of combination of distillation, adsorption chromatography on neutral alumina, GC and TLC and were identified by spectral and chemical analyses.<BR>Fifty two compounds were recognized as the constituents of the essential oil, among which limonene (85%) and linalool (ca.1%) were principal components. The following fifteen compounds which had not been found so far in citrus oils or in nature were also identified; cis-limonen-1, 2-oxide, trans- and cis-2, 8-p-menthadien-1o1, cis- and trans-i (7), 8-p-menthadien-2-ol, cis- and trans-2, 6, trimethyl2vinyb5hydrOXytetrahydroPyran, limonene-4-ol, 1, 2dihydrocarveol, 1, 8-p-menthadien-8, 9 -oxide, 1, 8-p-menthadien-501, trans-2, 8-p-menthadiene1-ol-2, 3-oxide, trans- and cis-2, 8pmenthadien4hydrOPerOxide, and di (1-oxydecyl) peroxide.
