Description

Behcet's disease is a chronic condition caused by disturbance of the body's immune system. When all symptoms are present, it is diagnosed as “complete”, we report a case exacerbated by tonsillitis.
A 22-year-old man with a high fever and sore throat diagnosed with acute tonsillitis and treated with antibiotic suffered from oral aphtae and ulcers of the mouth and larynx, followed by erythema nodosum, pudendal ulcers, and iridocyclitis. Suspecting complete behcet's disease, we consulted with dermatology and ophthalmology specialist. We treated his symptoms with colchicine and steroid eye injection in cooperation with other departments. Symptoms have been ameliorated but the occurrence of these and other disorders in the future cannot be predicted.
In this case, acute tonsillitis exacerbated behcet's disease and may reduce symptoms, necessitating this surgical approach.
