Description

A 7-month-old Scottish Terrier bitch had been suffering from progressive pain of the mandibula for 4 months. It showed pyrexia (40.1°C), progressive inability to open and close the mouth, difficulty of mastication, and marked fibro-osseous enlargement of both mandibular rami. Symmetrical massive bone proliferation was observed in the mandibula by radiological examination, which revealed no marked changes in any other bone. Biopsy presented obvious cell infiltration in the mandibula. It was suggested that some active changes might have occurred previously.<BR>Prednisolone, aspirin and antibiotics were administered intermittently during 5 months. The signs disappeared and the patient recovered gradually.
