説明

Recently, it is not uncommon to encounter a single or multinodular lesions consisting solely of coagulative necrosis and it is rather difficult to make a definitive pathologic diagnosis with biopsy specimens and/or resected specimens. We have studied 14 cases of necrotic nodule of the liver to clarify the clinicopathologic characteristics. All the nodules were detected as a hypoechoic tumor and 2 echogenic lines (bead sign) were observed in 10 out of the 14 nodules. As to hepatitis virus markers, Hepatitis B surface antigen was negative in all cases and two cases were found to be positive for hepatitis C virus antibody. Morphologically, the nodules consisted of varying degrees of coagulative necrosis surrounded by a thin layer of granulation tissue. In coagulative necrosis, numerous eosinophils and Charctor-Leyden crystals were recognized in 7 nodules (50%), respectively. Accordingly, it was predicted that the nodules were closely rerated to parasitic infections including toxocariasis and fasciola hepatica.
