Description
The theory of plasticity based on the maximum shearing stress in the triaxial plastic deformations of metals is established using the experimental results as to the work-hardening properties of aluminium by pure shear and on the following assumptions. The slips, or the pure shearing plastic strains, in the directions of the three principal shearing stresses, constitute the plastic deformation of metals. And the increments of these slips are proportional to the shearing stresses in these directions. It can be shown by previous experimental results, that the theory is more useful for the calculation of the plastic deformations of aluminium as compared with the octahedral shearing stress theory.
