Description
Tsunami-induced wave pressure and force acting on an inland structure are analyzed numerically to investigate their evaluation methods. Numerical results show that Asakura's formula for estimating the vertical distribution of the maximum wave pressure has a limited range of application depending on conditions of the tsunami at the position of the structure. Furthermore, it is found that the maximum wave force acting on the structure with a known drag coefficient can be evaluated from inundation depth and flow velocity in the absence of the structure based on the momentum of the tsunami.
