Study on the Effects of Chinese Classic Furniture Styles in Japan : Focusing on the Couch Seat (Bed, Bench, Stool)

Description

This research was based on comparisons and analysis of traditional Chinese furniture and Japanese furniture focusing mainly on the categories of sitting and reclining furniture. The results of the research are shown as follows. (1) The Chinese chuang was found to have a significant influence on Japanese furniture both in terminology and in form, about such items as the Japanese "shou" or "toko", and the a I cove in Japanese houses or "took-no-ma". (2) The Chinese Ta is similar to the Japanese outdoor seat "endai" and traditional Japanese store shelves "tana" in form and method of use. (3) The bed of the Chinese north area "Kang" was proved to be similar with the Japanese "toko". The seating styles of the Kang were the "yukaza" the Japanese sitting style. The Kang table that is used with the Kang is the original form of the Japanese low table cal led the "zataku". (4) The source of the Deng is an antique Chinese Zu. "Xiao deng zi" is similar in construction and form to the Japanese stool "fumidai" and the Japanese bath stool "furo-koshi-kake. (5) Tiao deng was similar in construction and form to the Japanese traditional bench "shogi" and arrangement was also found to be similar.
