Description

Titanium and silicon chelates with ligands of diethylamino substituted hydroxybenzylideneanilines were synthesized and their properties were investigated.<BR>Titanium and silicon chelates were prepared by the reaction of 2-hydroxy-4-diethylamino-N- (2-hydroxybenzylidene) anilines with titanium tetraisopropoxide and slicon tetrachloride, respectively. Titanium chelates were obtained as black powder whiles silicon chelates were obtained as dark red powder. By the introduction of diethylamino group into the aromatic ring of the amino site, absorption maxima of the titanium and silicon chelates red shifted fairly. Their solubility increased but decomposition point decreased. In addition, silicon chelates showed intence fluorescence.
