Description

Dolerite sills were intruded in the Semi-Mogami area,Yamagata prefecture in the Middle Miocene time. There are primitive dolerite in Mogami and differentiated dolerite in Semi.Pyroxene of Mogami dolerite has high in Mg#(core 72-86,rim 62-76) and is Ca-rich.Their spinel has high Cr#(58-78) and low ferric iron. Pyroxene of Semi dolerite has low Mg#(∼68) and is Ca-poor with pigeonite. The pyroxene rim of Mogami and pyroxene core of Semi resemble each other in composition. The Semi and Mogami dolerites may have been derived from the same magma.Picritic basalt of the Yoka Formation in Kyoto prefecture resembles the Mogami dolerite in Mg#,Ca,Ti of pyroxene and Cr# of spinel. The Cr-rich and low-ferric iron spinel means the origin of the magma high degree partial melting of the mantle.
