Description
A new bridge foundation named "Sheet-pile foundation" is proposed. Sheet-pile foundation consists of a footing and sheet piles surrounding the footing. By installing sheet piles into the ground around the footing and connecting together, both overturning and sliding resistance of the foundation against the seismic action will be increased.<br>In this paper, 6 different foundation models, which consist of the sheet-pile foundations with 5 different connection systems and a conventional spread foundation, were tested under 50g centrifugal gravity, and the seismic performances were compared.
