Description
Effect of the addition of V2O5 on the fabrication of SiC refractory using aqueous slip casting was studied. For preparing the SiC slurry with V2O5, it was the problem that the fluidity of SiC slurry was decreased with the addition of V2O5. ICP-AES measurements showed that the V concentration of the slurry was increased with increasing the milling time for preparing the slurry. Then we could improve the fluidity of the slurry by adding V2O5 just before slip casting. XPS measurements of SiC body with V2O5 showed that the V 2p3/2 spectra was shift lower energy by firing at 1300ºC.
