Description

This study deals with the effects on urban vegetation by the Reverse Area Divisions, designated once as Urbanization Promotion Area and at a later date converted to Urbanization Control Area to prevent urban sprawl and instead to urge planned development of the areas. Different from the already urbanized areas nearby, these areas have considerably good vegetation systems, and there is a possibility of ecosystem network conservation by connecting the areas and those surroundings. We made an analysis of vegetation change at the southeastern Tokorozawa, Saitama throughout the past half a century to know the effects of the Reverse Area Divisions, and clarified the possibility of future ecosystem network conservation.
