抄録

Following the last paper on the development of the traction-drive CVT, continuously variable power transmission, with nominal input torque capacity of 250 N·m and maximum speed ratio of 1 : 8.7 for a 4-wheel-drive vehicle, this paper describes the dynamic characteristics of the torque transmission. The CVT has two sets of power-transmitting units for front and rear axle drives. This mechanism makes it possible to split up the input power into the front and rear power trains without a center differential gear unit. The speed ratios of the CVT are controlled by measuring the torque acting on the output axles. The CVT torque control system works within 0.2 s and controls the front-rear torque ratio independent of the load torque fluctuation. It is also ensured that the CVT absorbs the rotational speed difference between both axles without tight corner braking when turning.
