説明

Aromatic-aliphatic copolyimides were synthesized by a new procedure, i. e., the polyaddition reaction of tetracarboxylic acid diimides with bismaleimides. In these polyaddition reactions, a small amount of m-cresol acts as a catalyst as well as a radical inhibitor for bismaleimides. Their chemical structures were determined by elemental analyses and from IR spectrum of model compound, i. e., N-phenyl-2-phthalimidosuccinimide. Films can be cast from their solutions in polar solvent such as dimethylformamide, but they were not flexible. In comparison with all aromatic polyimides, it was observed that aromatic-aliphatic copolyimides have less thermal stability.
