Abstract
This work is about “Air-tap system” that we developed. This system presents the sense of tapping virtual object in midair by using both functional electrical stimulation (FES) to the extension muscle of index finger and electrical tactile stimulation (ETS) to the finger pad. We investigated, in this paper, (1) how long the Stimulus Onset Asynchrony (SOA) is to induce tapping sensation to the virtual object with highest reality and (2) the effects of strength of these stimulations on hardness of virtual object in midair.
