Abstract

In this study, deterioration factor invasion resistance of mortars with silicate type surface penetrants was ascertained by measuring the hardness distribution and chloride ion concentration obtained by Vickers hardness test and salt water spraying method, respectively. The experiment was conducted using a water-cement ratio (W/C) and the amount of surface penetrants as parameters. From the result, the apparent diffusion coefficient of the modified part was identified. It was observed that the smaller the W/C, the larger the rate of decrease in the apparent diffusion coefficient tended to be when the modifying effect obtained by Vickers hardness test were the same. In addition, chloride ion infiltration simulation was carried out using the results of this examination. And the period for reaching the corrosion limit chloride ion amount of reinforcing steel was examined.
