Description
<p>2,6-Dimethoxyphenol is one of the odorous substances of natural rubber. In the two-roll mixing of natural rubber, we investigated the effects of roll mixing time and temperature on the content of 2,6-dimethoxyphenol. A calibration curve was prepared by HS-SPME-GC/MS technique using a standard sample of isoprene rubber. The calibration curve showed almost linearity. 2,6-Dimethoxyphenol in the natural rubber in the roll mixing step was simply quantified using the calibration curve. Mechanical shearing action by the mixing roll decreased the amount of 2,6-dimethoxyphenol in natural rubber with the passage of mixing time. We found that the amount of decrease was more affected by the roll set temperature than the mixing time.</p>
