Description

研究の概要(英文):Effects of local-oriented attitudes on career consciousness and communication with parents were investigated. A questionnaire package was administered to third-year university students (N=2,976), which consisted of the following. (1) Inquiry about the prefecture where their high school was located; (2) Inquiry about the prefecture where their university was located; (3) Inquiry about the prefecture where they intended to work after graduation; (4) The Career Action-Vision Test (CAVT; Umezaki & Tazawa, 2013); and (5) Quality of communication with their parents. Participants that responded “the same prefecture” to the first three questions above were considered to have a locally-oriented attitude. The results indicated that students with a locally-oriented attitude had relatively low career consciousness in terms of activities and vision. Moreover, the frequency of communication with parents about their future career plans was relatively low in locally-oriented students. These tendencies were not observed in the three major metropolitan areas. The above results are discussed from the perspective of career education.
