Description

In August 2008 a ceremony was held in Hiroshima (his birth place) to dedicate the statue of Admiral Kato Tomosaburo. This was the second Kato statue; the first one had been built in 1935. Studying these statues casts interesting light on Japan's changing views on national defense.
