Abstract

The impact of policy uncertainty on competitive strategy was analyzed using Japan's "decarbonization" policy as the case. Prime Minister Suga has announced that Japan will achieve "decarbonization" by 2050 and "46% reduction" in greenhouse gases by 2030. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced the power source composition in the "Basic Energy Plan", but there was a problem due to uncertainty. The cause was the politically-led, non-scientific approach. The other cause come from "difficult to achieve" policy by "balancing the books." Companies needs to formulate the practical strategy by themselves.
