Description
More than 15,000 pre-existing housing units were provided as temporary housing to secure accommodation for disaster victimsfollowing the 2016 kumamoto earthquake. The aim of this study is to comprehend the relocation status and assess the influence of thenumber of private-rental housing units on the relocation. In Kumamoto city, more than 6,000 private-rental housing units were left over,so more than 95% of the citizens move into private-rental housing inside the city. However, in other municipalities, it became clear thatrelocation outside municipalities was occurring because of the limited number of private rental housing units.
