Description

The authors have previously shown that solidification-type repositories reduce LCC compared to conventional repositories. However, there was a problem that the data from the demonstration tests were not reflected in the results. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to demonstrate the usefulness of a solidified landfill by reexamining the condition setting based on the demonstration test data from a simulated solidified landfill set up in the F Landfill Site in Fukuoka City, and by calculating LCC including the period from the start of landfill to ground improvement for site utilization. As a conclusion, it was shown that the LCC per ton of landfill waste is about 2.0% smaller for the solidification type than for the conventional type in the 100,000-ton scale, and about 17.6% smaller for the conventional type in the 1 million-ton scale. In addition, a comparison of LCCs for each life cycle stage shows that the solidification type has a smaller LCC during the construction phase and maintenance period than the conventional type, but a larger LCC during the service period.
