Description
We report on the activities of “Itoshima City Children’s Place Minamo.” This activity is for children who have no place to stay at school or home. There is no program at “Minamo” and children spend their time doing what they like. In addition, consultation support for parents is also provided by a clinical psychologist. Through these activities, a community is formed among the users. This suggests that the center is not a free space, but a place where people can make friends. Staff are expected not only to provide free space, but also to talk and play one-on-one with users as play therapists. Through the practice of these activities, the study also suggested the following issues: the characteristics and limitations of the content of activities provided by clinical psychologists, the relationship between the content of activities and the physical space configuration, and the fact that junior high school students and elementary school students have different requirements for placemaking activities.
