Buddhist images carved directly into natural cliffs are valuable cultural heritage, and precise three-dimensional models provide valuable materials for academic research and their preservation and restoration. However, removing them from the cliff for measurements is impossible, and contact with equipment or people may damage the surface. The authors propose a method for creating three-dimensional models using SfM-MVS as an inexpensive and easy-to-use method that overcomes these limitations. They will create a model for two Buddhist images in Oita City and examine its validity.
