Description

With the current demand for more effective utilization of waste plastics, there is an increasing need to improve the recycling rate of waste plastics generated by the construction industry. The treatment of plastics contained in construction waste differs depending on each region, company, and the characteristics of the waste brought in, and the current nationwide treatment flow is not yet known. In this study, the actual treatment status of waste plastics generated from the construction industry was ascertained, and the use of molten fuel as an effective utilization measure was examined. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that a large percentage of lightweight materials after sorting of mixed construction waste containing plastics are incinerated, landfilled in stable landfills, or landfilled in controlled landfills, and that effective utilization of these materials is not progressing. In addition, lightweight materials have the potential for effective use because they have calorific value as fuel for melting, and changing the current treatment status of lightweight materials to one that assumes use as fuel for melting would reduce LCC by 3% and final disposal by 51%, but on the other hand, CO2 emissions would increase by 6.1%.
