Description

The Ohshima Flu Study is a project to develop an elaborated infectious disease simulation in silico for public health preparedness, by combining data from a field epidemiological study of influenza （flu） and a social simulation of Izu-Ohshima Island, Tokyo, Japan. We performed a prospective population-based whole island influenza surveillance with PCR virus typing in Izu-Ohshima Island during Fiscal Year 2009, in parallel with collecting vaccination records and conducting questionnaires for health care seeking behavior. As a result, we were able to record detailed epidemiological data on pandemic flu 2009, which can be used to better understand the dynamics of flu pandemics and developing flu simulation models.
