Description

In response to the novel coronavirus infection outbreak, Hiroshima University’s School of Medicine established an online lecture system using the Microsoft Teams platform from the beginning of the new semester in April. The online platform allowed a combination of live and on-demand lectures, group work, and virtual anatomy and clinical practice training. Exams were also conducted online, but they identified a need for better lecture design and assessment methods. A hybrid approach to medical education, combining traditional face-to-face with online lectures, was necessary during this pandemic era. It opened the opportunity to reconsider the significance of face-to-face lectures and other aspects of university education.
