Abstract
While using a route navigation service for pedestrians and cyclists, it is important to reduce the number of smartphone operations including map zooming. We propose a method that automatically zooms a map according to the route and current position. Our method determines the appropriate map zoom level based on the density of the surrounding road network and the user's zoom operation log. We quantitatively evaluated the effectiveness of the proposed method. We also implemented the proposed method as a route navigation application and confirmed that the zoom level changes naturally as the user moves.
