Description
A settlement practice began in the UK in the late 1800s as a integrated practice of workers education and projects of relief for the poor. And it has spread worldwide in a flash. It was introduced to Japan in the 1890s and has been put into practice by social entrepreneurs. In this paper, I traced previous research, summarized its history, and classified and organized its roles and functions. This paper examines the history of settlement based on the hypothesis that Japan's settlement practices and ideas were separated into social education and social welfare after the war, in particular, it has been inherited by community center activities and social welfare council activities. This is a work progress report to be retraced, and no conclusions have been drawn yet, so it is a research note.
