Description

One of the usage forms of big data analytics (BDA), the process and a collection of analytical technologies for analysis of big data, is its non-routine or ad hoc use. The ad hoc use of BDA can be a means with which organizations cope with change in the business environment with agility. However, no empirical studies on its effects exists to date. This study suggests an empirical model addressing the effects of the ad hoc use of BDA based on the notion of sensemaking, the theory of the organizational process of comprehensively interpreting change events and projects a course of action. Also, results of the initial tests of hypotheses on the effects of the ad hoc use of BDA based on the model are presented.
