Median rhomboid glossitis: Report of a case.

Description

<p>A case of median rhomboid glossitis was reported. A 55-year-old man was referred to our clinic for examination of a tumorous lesion in the mid-dorsum of the tongue. He had been admitted to the Iwate Medical University Internal Medicine because of cancer of the esophagus on the previous day.</p><p>Oral examination revealed a well-defined and elliptical rising in the posterior mid-dorsum of the tongue. The lesion was 32×16x5mm in size, and seemed to be composed of five small masses. The area was devoid of papillae and tinted with somber redness, being elastic hard and nontender.</p><p>Diagnosis was made as median rhomboid glossitis clinically and histopathologically. No treatment was performed.</p>
