Abstract

The junior high school students in Suzuka city in Mie prefecture brought their box lunch from home in 2005, but some students could not prepare lunch for some reason. Therefore, the Suzuka city board of education provided box lunch made by company such student as the child care support from May, 2005 to April, 2015. The registered dietitian who is a staff of Suzuka city managed making box lunch corresponding to school lunch standards or similar standards. It was important to make box lunch attractive by devising content of it, since the attractiveness of it for student must affect on the utilization rate of it. As the city board of education did not have a track record of box lunch menu for student at that time, we founded basic menus that aimed for a taste that gives us a generally positive opinion and as a result, we were able to make lunch boxes for our purpose. After that, the registered dietitian developed various menus such as ″Warm Noodle Menu ″, and was able to establish a lunch service that is easy and familiar for student to use, so that fulfilled the function as child care support. We will report how we struggled with this effort and offer the reference material for doing lunch service or similar services.
