Description

Annually, enormous amounts of mushroom beds are dumped throughout Japan. Dealing with them is one of the difficult problems among mushroom farmers. In addition, the farmers fumble to find effective practical uses for these discarded mushrooms. This research examined the bacterial resistance of pyroligneous acid which is made from dumped mushroom beds. Experiments used Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus subsp.aureus which are common bacteria in daily life. The experiment results showed pyroligneous acid was able to resist the growth of E.coli and Staphylococcus.
