Description
This paper proposes a downlink time difference of arrival positioning method using angle difference of arrival (ADOA). In the proposed method, mobile station (MS) position is determined to satisfy not only TDOA condition but also ADOA condition of two signals transmitted by two Tx stations. Although the conventional TDOA positioning is not applicable to the case of two Tx stations, the proposed method is applicable thanks to the use of ADOA condition. Numerical results show that the proposed method can keep positioning error less than several meters, in a realistic wireless transmission environment with two Tx stations of 50 m interval.
