Abstract

<p> Environmental education in early childhood is important for the development of rich emotions and thinking ability. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted to grasp the actual situation of environmental education for young children in Shiga prefecture. The 262 responses obtained were analyzed to clarify the factors related to the activity of environmental education. As a result, the following was clarified, i) Preschools in which instructors share information about activities in their predecessor preschools conducted many types of environmental education. ii) Preschools that are played games with five senses, instructor have less anxiety about safety. iii) Preschools that breed and cultivate animals and plants are small in scale, and instructors know the dangerous plants and insects. iv) In preschools that carry out activities to eat cultivated vegetables, the scale of the preschools is large, but the number of children per instructor is small.</p>
