Description
There are several types of insect eaters. That is, hunting type, gourmet type, food culture type, food policy type, ecosystem protection type, and nerd type. Some people who have never eaten insects may be interested in eating insects if they have positive information about eating insects or if they actually have the opportunity to eat insects. The purpose of this study is to find common types of insect eaters and non-eaters based on the similarity of answers to the same questionnaire. In the first half of this article, the authors review recent research in this research area from a psychological perspective. Since 2015, the number of literature on insect foods has increased significantly, making it difficult to get a complete picture of this research. Therefore, the authors limit the review to the studies on psychological approaches. To date, no studies have been done to classify insect eaters. The same 54 questions were asked to those who eat insects and those who have never eaten insects. Insect eaters were given another 10 questions asking why they are so active in eating insects. Based on the patterns of answers to those questions, the authors worked to correlate those who had never eaten insects with the types of insect eaters.
