This article looks at features of the draft of "Meiji Tenno Ki" written by Takekoshi Yosaburo(1865-1950), author of "The Economic Aspects of the History of the Civilization of Japan" 3 vols.(1930), while he was the compilation manager of Kunaisho Rinji Teishitsu Henshukyoku(1921-1926). Takekoshi's draft is composed of vol1,vol2,vol3,vol4,vol5. Compared with the "Meiji Tenno Ki"(published in 1968-1977),the most outstanding feature of Takekoshi's draft is to describe the history before the birth of the Meiji Emperor in vol1.Takekoshi looks at the collapse of the Edo Shogunate from an economic viewpoint. Takekoshi furthermore expresses his unique ideas after vol2 concerning the national state in compapison to the officially published "Meiji Tenno Ki". It is unclear why Takekoshi resingned as the compilation manager of Kunaisho Rinji Teishitsu Henshukyoku, but the final version of "Meiji Tenno Ki" would be greatly different if he hadn't resigned from the post.
