In this paper, I make an examination on Verb-Derivational Suffix -Ru in modern Japanese because previous works rarely focus on it. Through this paper, my study claims that, firstly, there are so many words that were coined by Verb-Derivational Suffix "-Ru". Secondly, and more importantly, there are some rules in words created by Verb -Derivational Suffix "-Ru" which make an enlargement of Japanese verbs. (1) Verb -Derivational Suffix "-Ru" changes in the same way as 5-dan verb. (2) Verb -Derivational Suffix "-Ru" is added to some nouns and proper nouns and has new meanings that are different from original ones. (3) Verb -Derivational Suffix "-Ru" is added to some loan words, onomatopoeic words and mimetic words. As above, Verb -Derivational Suffix "-Ru" extends Japanese verbs more and more.
