教員養成課程に所属する大学生42人を2群に分け両群に漢字の正しい筆順を問う問題を30問与えた後、一方の群にのみ筆順の原則やその例外について約4分間の講義をした。また全員に対し、各自が誤答した字に対する正しい筆順による書き取りを10回させた。21日後にそれら30字に別の20字を加えた50問を与え、成績を比較した。結果、講義を受けた群において30字に対してより顕著な成績の向上が見られたが、追加された20字に対する成績に差は見られなかった。学習の転移は見られなかったものの、筆順の原則やその例外についての宣言的記憶は正しい筆順の記憶を促進すると考えられる。

In this study, we divided 42 university students into two groups, and gave both groups 30 questions on the correct stroke order of Kanji characters, followed by a 4-minute lecture on the principles of stroke order and their exceptions for one group only. 21 days later, we gave both groups 50 questions on the correct stroke order consisting of the 30 characters and 20 other characters, and compared performance between the groups. Results showed that the group that received the lecture improved more significantly on the 30 questions, but there was no difference in performance on the 20 new questions. Although no transfer of learning was observed, declarative memory of stroke order principles and their exceptions may facilitate memory of correct stroke order.
