NPPV is required to have appropriate knowledge and procedures in mask seiection. In this study,I focused on setting of Rise Time and selection of mask using. Lung setup reproduced normal lungs, increased airway resistance, decreased pulmonary compliance. We evaluated inspired gas pressure changes, ventilatory volume, work of ventilatory. The one that Rise Time had a short decreased the inspiratory pressure change. It is difficult for the ventilatory volume to compare it simply. One having a long Rise Time decreases the work of ventilatory. Ventilatory support effects are thought to increase by setting Rise Time for a long time. The responsiveness to an inspired gas effort improves by setting Rise Time btiefly. Work of ventilatory increases when we think about a ventilatory support effect with work of ventilatory when Rise Tmie setting is short, and mechanical work decreases when the Rise Time establishment is long. Based upon the foregoing, we cannot explain a ventilatory support effect only with merely ventilatory volume. It can be understood easily by considering work of ventilatory.
