Abstract

This paper attempts to estimate the economic ripple effects of workcations in three prefectures, Wakayama, Nagasaki, and Tokushima, based on a demonstration experiment conducted by our company, using interindustry relations analysis. The economic ripple effects were estimated using the average expenditure per person per night in each prefecture calculated based on the demonstration experiment and the estimated number of annual workcations participants in each prefecture, and came to 500 million yen in Wakayama, 207 million yen in Tokushima, and 275 million yen in Nagasaki. In addition to workcations, the economic ripple effects of revisits, migration and settlement, in the area, and two-location residence were also calculated, resulting in total economic ripple effects of 12.3 billion yen in Wakayama, 5.8 billion yen in Tokushima, and 13.6 billion yen in Nagasaki over a 10-year period.
