Xu Guangqi, a Christian intellectual who lived in the late Ming Dynasty, passed the Imperial Examination after his conversion and served at the Imperial Court, successively serving the Emperors Wanli, Taichang, Tianqi, and Chongzhen. He not only associated with them but also participated in politics. Based on this history, the current report first introduces previous studies. Next, it reveals the relationship between Xu Guangqi and these four emperors of his time. Then, focusing on these associations, we consider how Xu Guangqi participated in politics. Furthermore, from his political participation, the contribution of Xu Guangqi to the development of Christianity in China at the end of the Ming Dynasty is examined.
