Description
The Engineering Test Satellite VIII (ETS-VIII) is a geostationary satellite that will be used to perform experiments on mobile satellite communications, broadcasting, etc. In our laboratory, compact printed antennas that will be put on the roof of cars, trains, etc. are developed aiming at satellite communications for use with ETS-VIII. Among the studied antennas, authors are currently developing triangular microstrip line antennas. However, with the model that has been studied so far, the impedance matching is not realized. Consequently, this time, the authors studied a new model which consists in loading a parasitic element to the previously developed triangular microstrip line antenna. With such a model, not only the impedance is matched but also the air thickness between the ground and the substrate is drastically decreased.
