Description
Although there have been a lot of work on educational hypermedia, there has been little work on evaluating the effectiveness of existing hypermedia.This paper consequently describes a guideline for evaluating educational hypermedia from a user point of view and from a designer point of view.In this guideline, effective educational hypermedia is regarded as learning material which gives learners such mental efforts (cognitive load) to explore in the hyperspace as are expected to consume their working memory resources effectively.Following this idea, the evaluation guideline have made clear cognitive load which educational hypermedia should give in a context.It have also made clear how to compose educational hypermedia so that it can provide the cognitive load.Using such a guidline, the user or designer can understand the effectiveness of existing educational hypermedia with cognitive load which it gives learners in a context.
