Description

In this paper, we describe a conversation stimulating agent that is one of the subsystems of AIDE (Augmented Informative Discussion Environment) which we have been developing. In particular, AIDE aims to support the creative aspect of daily conversations. Since daily conversations are generally unrestricted it is hard to apply typical creativity/discussion support systems to them. Therefore, we propose an agent which attends conversations as a general participant, searches for directions of novel topics by statistically processing utterances during the conversation, and stimulates conversation by timely providing pieces of information in the directions found. Experimental results suggest that the agent has ability to introduce new relevant topics.
