Description
This paper presents a method for the noise reduction under the noisy environment with consideration of wavelength constant using a microphone array, and evaluates the performance of this method for the improvement of speech recognition rate. For noise reduction, we fundermentally utilizes the differences among the wavelength constants of respective sound waves with respect to the axis of the microphone array. The experimental noise reduction test with digits and a band limited noise as the external source in an anechic chamber and speech recognition test for noise reduced digits give a feasible improvement of speech recognition rate, that amounts to more than 93% for the range of signal to noise ratio greater, than 5dB.
